DEFINITIONS
Individual Session: A face-to-face, one-on-one conversation between a client and counselor, that typically discusses issues identified in the client’s treatment plan.
Orientation: Counselor shall explain the ground rules for individual sessions, group therapy, education seminars and treatment planning.
POLICIES
- Orientation is the first individual session
- Clients are expected to arrive on time to all individual sessions.
- Clients should expect to be drug screened anytime an individual session is conducted.
- Clients are expected to be in attendance to all scheduled individual sessions unless cleared by the Clinical Director or LVN.
PROCEDURES
Initial one-on-one session
Give an orientation as to what is expected of the client, immediately followed by an in-depth assessment, and then initiate the treatment plan.
Subsequent one-on-one sessions
- Discuss the client’s challenges, needs, goals and objectives.
- Develop action steps
- Set timeframe for short- and long-term goals and objectives
- Set start dates for each action step
