Drug addiction is a neurobehavioral syndrome characterized by tenacious seeking, and compulsive using plus an inability to control consumption. Nobody decides to become a drug addict or alcoholic. It happens gradually over time. Addiction often begins innocently enough as a teenager with tobacco, marijuana and alcohol. Areas in the brain that govern decision making, judgment, and self-control are still developing at this age and the earlier that drug use begins, the more likely it will progress to addiction.
Drug addiction is one of the oldest, most widespread and most persistent health problems. If someone you love gets caught up in addiction, they suffer and everyone around them suffers. Families impacted by addiction are oftentimes painful to live in. Those living among drug addicts and alcoholics are often traumatized by the experience. Broad emotional swings, from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other, are all too common characteristics of the addicted family system. If your loved one has an addiction problem it is undoubtedly affecting everyone who knows and loves them.
Our first suggestion is that you take care of yourself. It’s important that you remain strong, healthy and clear-minded throughout the decision making process. Scan through our website and gather information. Use that information to make an informed decision. Last but not least, don’t delay because addiction is a life-threatening problem.
Every individual has a different genetic make up. These differences influence how people respond to different treatment models. One center may be better for one person while another center may be better for another person. Do your homework. Make several calls and talk to different centers. You will be able to make an informed decision by taking this simple step.

The importance of detoxification treatment cannot be overstated. Detoxification treatment manages withdrawal symptoms, diffuses cravings, purges toxins, reverses physical dependency, and returns the brain to normal function.
